Wildflower Meadow Knotted Necklace

Here is a simple bead soup necklace design that uses a fun mix of Czech glass in various shapes, colors and textures. You'll need enough beads to knot a 32" necklace. I used about 180 beads ranging from 2mm - 12mm and 70" of 4 ply waxed linen.

I started the necklace by using 6" of 19 gauge dark steel annealed wire. I created a wrapped loop bail on top of the pendant. A Czech glass maple leaf on a ball headpin and a copper leaf on a 6mm rope jump ring are attached to a 15mm rope jump ring in a copper finish.

The necklace is started by creating a larks head knot with the waxed linen on the large jump ring. Tie a knot with both strands together.

I knotted the beads individually for 11" inches. I then alternated between 5-7 smaller beads strung together and then a knot, and stacks of 3 large peanut beads and then knotting. I repeated between those two combinations for 5 inches.

After the other side of the necklace is complete, I tied both of the ends together in a knot. And then I tied a second knot with both strands together. Trim the linen cord to desired length.

Get creative - use any pendant and combination of beads you have on hand. This project is a great stash buster! You can use a wild mix of colors or go for a more subdued design using only 2-3 colors.

I have a few kits for this project in my shop.
